Description

Description

The overall objective of BEST is to contribute to economic growth and poverty reduction by supporting Bangladesh to take advantage of global market opportunities.  The activities of the BEST programme will improve the quality framework for Bangladesh with special focus on the fisheries and textile and clothing (T&C) sectors. 

Following are the three components of BEST: 

Component 1:  Strengthen the overall national quality conformity assessment infrastructure and integrate it with the international quality infrastructure in order to increase consumer protection through improved product safety and quality features and improve competitiveness so to allow Bangladesh better exploit global market opportunities.

Component 2:  Strengthen the national quality infrastructure for fish and fish products to meet safety and quality requirements in export markets, improve competitiveness and take advantage of global market opportunities particularly in EU markets

Component 3: Strengthen overall competitiveness in the textiles and RMG sector and to improve the working conditions of the RMG sector leading to the expansion of the sector and creating better employment opportunities.
